Reductions are performed in women with large breasts to alleviate symptoms of back and shoulder pain. There is a possibility that this procedure could be covered by your insurance. The results of reduction surgery will improve back pain and improve the breast's shape and nipple positions, and allow the patient to increase her activity. It will also enhance body image.

The surgery is done under a general anesthetic and the patient is kept overnight at the hospital. The following morning the dressing is changed and the patient is discharged. The sutures are removed in about seven days. The healing process takes a couple of months.
